Internal medicine is the management, treatment, diagnosis, and prevention of adult diseases using nonsurgical means. Doctors practicing internal medicine are called internists. Internists manage patients with a variety of medical issues. They order the tests necessary to determine the right diagnosis and the appropriate course of treatment. They also educate patients on the prevention of diseases.



Internists may refer to sub-specialists to help them with a diagnosis and treatment of their patients

They also coordinate the care recommended by the various specialists . Internists undergo extensive clinical training and may also have a sub-specialty, which means they specialize in a specific area of medicine. Dr. Berger completed a three year residency program in internal medicine and is also a sub-specialist having completed a two year fellowship program in the field of medical oncology.

Dr. Berger works in a private practice and is a board certified physician specializing in general internal medicine and medical oncology. He personally cares for his patients who are admitted to the hospital and welcomes new patients to his practice.
